Peplink announced this week that a vulnerability has been found in several of their devices running earlier versions of firmware, version 7.0 and 6.3.3. Peplink quickly identified these security concerns and an update was launched in their latest firmware updates, version 7.0.1 and 6.3.4.
Just like with Microsoft, Google and other product companies, updates are created and dispatched as vulnerabilities are identified. Peplink was proactive and swift in response to ensure their products were up to Peplink’s high standards of secure and efficient connectivity.
West Networks wants to make sure your devices are up to date with the latest protections. If we are not currently managing your devices, we recommend updating to the latest firmware immediately to reduce exposure to these identified security concerns.
You can download the latest firmware here or visit the Peplink download center.
If West Networks is managing your devices, your InControl membership, and warranty are up to date; we have already taken precautionary measures to best protect your devices. We either have or will upgrade your devices to the latest firmware for you. We have also disabled the external web administration interface, which was involved in the security concerns identified by independent security professionals and acknowledged by Peplink.
To protect against these vulnerabilities, West Networks has disabled WAN access for our clients under warranty, so that device management is only accessible through the secure connection of InControl cloud management or local LAN web interface. InControl is a direct way to manage devices without exposing the WAN interface. Using a secure connection featuring two-factor authentication, InControl is a direct connection to the cloud for remote web administration, bypassing the need for exposing a web portal to potential security vulnerabilities.
For large businesses and enterprises with many devices, securing and managing each device can be tedious. InControl allows for all Peplink devices to be monitored and managed in one interface.
Visit West Network’s online store to register and renew your device warranty with InControl subscription.
